About Taylour.

Pronounced [TAY-lu-ORE]

Healing In Authenticity, PLLC was founded by Taylour Neal after consistently finding herself in spaces not designed for folks who looked like, sounded like, or had experiences like her. With centering the needs of Black people, POC folks and LGBTQ communities, HIA strives to provide accessible therapy services to clients who seek person-centered, trauma informed therapy, training and culturally affirming apparel and resources. Taylour Neal is also currently serving as the Director of Campus Services at the North Carolina Coalition Against Domestic Violence. Her passion for victim advocacy stems from her experience creating space for social justice, equity and healing others through motivation to be their authentic selves. Her previous roles have included therapy, crisis intervention, education, prevention and advocacy for students, policy creation and revision, facilitating faculty/staff, Title IX and student trainings about the issues of sexual violence, domestic/dating violence and stalking.

Taylour received her Masters of Science from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She is currently a Nationally Certified Counselor and a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (LCMHCA). Taylour’s professional goals include helping local, regional and national initiatives acknowledge the intersectionality of race and gender-based violence while promoting the importance of mental health. Taylour also identifies as a mother, wife and dog mom who loves to binge movies and television!

“When I think of this person, a quote from the esteemed Maya Angelou comes to mind. “My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.” Some people are just born to change the world.”

Awards.

Anti-Violence Professionals Appreciation Week Spotlight Award | Swan Center for Advocacy & Research

Spotlight Series award recipient for outstanding work and contribution to the Anti-Violence field

2019 International Women's Day Award Recipient | Bennett College

This award is given to a person who exemplifies, tenacity and drive, all while advocating for the underrepresented populations of this community. The person receiving this award fights for the rights and safety of students and others in our community. Because of this I decided to take the time to ask colleagues how they would describe this person, and they used words such as, compassionate, approachable and committed. This person works hard to establish spaces that are equitable for all. Her presence and work is something that is much needed on our campus. She truly embodies what it means to be a phenomenal woman. When I think of this person, a quote from the esteemed Maya Angelou comes to mind. “My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.” Some people are just born to change the world.
